Life Guard, North Campus Recreation Building, October 2014 - May 2014
After being trained in CPR, First Aid, and Water Front Safety this summer, I continued to implement my skills at pools across campus as a lifeguard. I work roughly 10-15 hours per week in various pool or at other events to make sure swimmers are safe and healthy. My duties include making swimmers feel welcome and comfortable, maintaining pool cleanliness, and creating a safe, fun environment for all Rec Center visitors.
Promotions Team, West Michigan Whitecaps, March 2013--August 2014
As a member of the promotions team, I enhance my skills in customer, advertiser, and fan relations with in-Game Promotions. Along the way, I was able to add duties such as player and fan interviews, Roxy (our female mascot), singing as the fat lady at the end of games, "the green eyeball" in the eyeball race, and the "hot dog" in the hot dog, mustard, and ketchup race. Being part of the promotions team also lets me practice my Spanish speaking skills with many of the players on the team.
Dining Ambassador, University Housing, University of Michigan, Winter-Fall 2014
In the fall of my freshman year, I started working in the cafeteria. My supervisor recommended me for a pilot program through the housing supervisor's office that allowed me to further develop my skills in public relations, event planning, and social media content and coordination to help recruit students to work for the university and use the dining halls services.
Writer/Blogger, Arts at Michigan Website, University of Michigan, February 2014 - December 2015
This is a job that I was hired for after I interviewed for another position at the website. I did not get the original job, but my interview went well enough that I was recommended for this position where I attend university arts events, take photos, and write reviews for the website. It is a great job because it is part-time, allows me to write (which I love to do), and it is just plain fun!
Camp Counselor, Stony Lake/Michi-Lu-Ca, Living Water Ministries, Summer 2014
As a camp counselor and certified life guard at this summer camp, I am able to give back. I can share my faith and experiences with the youth, teens, and disabled adults that spend time here during the summer. During my summer here, I was asked to take over the duties for Head Life Guard.
Event Steward, Mamrelund Community Center, Mamrelund Lutheran Church, 2011--2013
This position let me improve my event planning skills by helping patrons with room set up and clean up, sound system, and assist with needs during events.
